Santiago Segovia
Mathematician & Computer Scientist.
I design and build full-stack applications, machine learning systems, and computational tools driven by strong mathematical foundations.
Origin
I'm a mathematics and computer science graduate from University of Houston.
I have a strong passion for mathematics and computer science, and I enjoy expanding my knowledge in these fields, particularly in numerical analysis, machine learning, and data science. In my free time, I like to work on personal projects that allow me to showcase my skills, watch movies, play video games and football.

Selected Projects
Sparse Matrix Research
Conducted computational research investigating how structured sparsity patterns can reduce the cost of encrypted machine learning inference. Designed and evaluated random, banded, and block sparse matrices, measuring the trade-off between computational efficiency and predictive accuracy in privacy-preserving environments.
Amazon Review Opinion Search Engine
Built an information retrieval system that ranks product reviews according to user-specified opinions and product attributes. Designed multiple retrieval models, performed manual Precision@k evaluations, and improved ranking quality through iterative query refinement and relevance analysis.
LU Dense Solver
Engineered a CUDA-based linear algebra engine capable of solving large dense systems up to 41× faster than a CPU implementation. Designed optimized GPU kernels using shared-memory tiling and memory-access optimizations while analyzing scalability across increasing matrix dimensions.
Volunteer Management Platform
Designed and developed a full-stack volunteer management platform supporting authentication, event coordination, assignment tracking, reporting, and administrative workflows. Implemented role-based access control, database-backed automation, and scalable dashboard interfaces for managing organizational operations.
Portfolio Website
Engineered a full-stack developer portfolio using Next.js and TypeScript to showcase research, machine learning, numerical computing, and software engineering projects. Implemented responsive UI components, interactive mathematical visualizations, project detail pages, and a backend-powered contact system to deliver a professional user experience.
